ISOS is happy to spread the word about Project Pineapple, a bike ride through SE Asia aimed at bringing awareness to the existence of cluster bombs throughout the region. Check out the details below and help spread the word on this project.
Why: 76 Million Unexploded Bombs. This bike ride will visit sites where bombs are still being cleared and places where victims of these bombs live.
What: A bike ride. Not your huffy. Real bikes. The founder’s weapon of choice? A Belorussian 125cc Minsk.
When: March 19th – April 30th, 2009
Where: From Hanoi, Vietnam through Laos and Cambodia to Saigon (Ho Chi Minh), Vietnam. Join up at any point!
Who: Motor bike enthusiasts, Bloggers, Moms, War Veterans, Peace Veterans, you and anyone else who wants to see an end brought to this inhumane use of weaponry and the damage unexploded ordinances are still causing throughout SE Asia to this day.
Notable-Upset-You-and-Inspire-You-to-Get-Involved-Fact: This is not a new cause. Ever heard of the Oslo Treaty? It seeks to ban this type of weapon and provide assistance for victims. Run a search and find out if your government has signed it. Then write a letter. Post a blog. Or Roar your hog through SE Asia and make some noise for this cause!
