Support the BKK Urban Garden ProjectHere’s what we’re working on now:

Sanuk My Saturday (Volunteer English Teaching)

This is an initiative to pump volunteers into our project teaching in the slum and other programs in need of volunteers such as the Little Light Project. Sign up to volunteer today! In addition to teaching English, we’ll be using the relationships we’re building with the Sanuk My Saturday project to promote and educate people in two Bangkok slum communities how to be more green and grow more of their own food.

Hands on Homelessness

In partnership with Hands on Helping, ISOS is proud to be working with Bangkok’s Homeless community. The “hands on” initiative has undertaken a series of interviews with abandoned kids, abandoned parents, police, trash collectors, beggars and other Bangkok residents that are commonly ignored. The information used will be shared on the blog and in multimedia content to help people begin to better understand the plight of the urban poor.

THANKSLUSH2, Bangkok’s Twestival Celebration (Sept. 2009)

This go round our party went global as a part of Twestival celebrations worldwide. We raised $1572 for charity. See the video from this great project!

Urban Garden Project

This project never made it off the runway. Mostly because there was little demand or understanding about the goals of this initiative. It has, however, led to an urban teaching project which we’ve named Sanuk My Saturday. Thus, remaining funds we raised for urban gardening will be devoted to this aim.

Medical Aide for Refugees (June 2009)

On Monday, June 22nd, In Search of Sanuk began an account with the Bangkok Refugee Center to support the medical needs of asylum seeking refugees. We were able to start this fund with 6000baht (almost $200) after so many of you came to our A Taste of Sri Lanka event to recognize World Refugee Day. Special thanks goes to Hyunsook Sooki Ji who together with her coworkers at ING Life donated over $100 to this cause.

Living Water Donation Drive (March & April 2009)

This was a project to bring new and used goods to the Living Water Center, a small organization that helps Bangkok’s Burmese migrants. With the help of groups like SMiLe (a church based at Ekamai International School) and individuals like Nalinee Methajitiphan we delivered two pickup truck loads of goods and supplies to LWC.

Picture From My Mind Art Show (Feb. 2009)

We were successful in raising more than 50,000baht ($1500 US) for the Bangkok Refugee Center. Thanks to Chalit Nakpawan’s Moddy Restaurant and Gallery for hosting us and contributing to help refugees. Click here to see pictures from this event.
