The Team

Background

In Search of Sanuk started as a small project to introduce friends to opportunities to serve the community. As more people got involved, the focus shifted to challenge people everywhere to be conduits of change through the action we’re taking in Bangkok, Thailand. Currently we are focusing our efforts on structuring and finding support for our volunteer English teaching project in two poor Bangkok communities. We would love to have you join our team. Connect with us and find out how you can do more to help.

Here are a few of the people paving the way in their search for sanuk:

Dwight is always busy trying to think of ways to incite people’s concern for one another. Growing up in Atlanta, his family instilled in him the value of giving even when means to do so were limited. His interest in intercultural communication eventually lead him to working in Thailand. His goal for living in Bangkok is to build a community where people can have fun collaborating to help others, while inspiring people around the world to tackle issues in their own communities.

Dwight founded and initiates most ISOS activities and projects. Follow In Search of Sanuk on Twitter.

Marc Gold is the founder and director of the 100 Friends Project. The 100 Friends Project aims to bring direct assistance by means of philanthropic travel to some of the world’s most needy people. Marc travels  to the world’s poorest countries to carry out humanitarian missions annually and put the money to work in the most compassionate, culturally compatible, and practical manner possible.

Marc is a mentor, advisor and nonstop source of inspiration for ISOS. Find 100 Friends on Facebook.

Professionally, he helps rockstar entrepreneurs build authority online with blogs & social media, and on ThrillingHeroics.com he encourages readers to pursue an unorthodox, exciting lifestyle and career—sharing thoughts on personal development, entrepreneurship & going location-independent.

Cody uses his skills to contribute to ISOS, designing the website and regularly donating to the projects through his company Thrilling Heroics Consulting. Follow Cody on Twitter.

team4Chris is passionate about helping others. Growing up traveling developed her desire to learn more about the world’s people and cultures. She studied International Affairs at the University of Colorado in Boulder and has now traveled to four continents, making Thailand the fifth country she’s lived in. When she’s not working on creating a social enterprise dedicated to helping marginalized peoples, you can find her in a third grade classroom. She spends her free time volunteering, learning Thai, and reading.

Chris heads the Sanuk My Saturday program teaching kids from a slum community in Bangkok and organizing volunteers. Follow Chris on Twitter.

Lola is an attorney, author, blogger, social activist and future home builder. She practiced law for over twenty years before abandoning the deserts of Arizona for the urban “hot-house” that is Bangkok, Thailand. She holds an LLM in international trade law but is committed to advocating on behalf of peoples who are economically and socially marginalized by the world’s steady march toward globalization. Lola, an avid daydreamer, was the main organizer of Thrill the World Bangkok 2009 and recently launched her OneWoman-OneHouse blog.

In addition to being a regular volunteer, Lola spends much of her time fund raising and networking to garner support for ISOS projects.
