“Sanuk is translated as fun, but means much more…”
In Search of Sanuk (ISOS) is a community where people can collaborate on ways to change the world around them. We hope to encourage travelers to open their eyes, equip expats for self-activism, and challenge organizations to invest back into society more creatively. We’ll share advice, point out some great causes and invite you to participate in our own ongoing projects.
In Search of Sanuk is an 100 Friends Project, a registered 501(c)3 tax-deductible charity organization in the United States.
What is Sanuk?
Sanuk is a Thai word roughly translated as fun or enjoyment. Sanuk, however, is much more. This value permeates Thai society giving people a jovial, lighthearted outlook on life. We combine this aspect of Thai culture with our goals to help needy people. To us, sanuk is a lifestyle. This lighthearted outlook naturally translates to those we’re trying to reach and becomes a powerful mechanism of hope and healing for all involved.
