Relief
Bangkok is home to many nationalities who have fled their countries because of the turmoil in their homelands. They arrive unprepared to cope with the language, culture, or the harsh reality of surviving in Bangkok with no employment rights. The also live in constant fear of arrest. Often family members are arrested and held indefinitely in Bangkok’s immigration detention center. Our volunteers visit the center to reunite the families during visiting hours and deliver supplies such as fresh water, food, clothing and books. Make a $10 donation to supply a family held in detention with healthy food and water for the day.
Edutainment
Childhood is a privilege many kids don’t have. This includes children in Bangkok’s poor communities, who often don’t complete basic schooling, because of the circumstances they were born into. The disinterest in school and eventual drop out leaves kids in these communities with little chance of breaking the cycle of poverty. We’ve started the Sanuk My Saturday English teaching program to provide children in at risk communities safe learning and playing environments for a few hours a week. Every weekend we welcome volunteers who help us inspire the kids to love learning. Donations of any size help, and you can sponsor the entire month of our program in two communities when you donate $150 or more.
Community
We’re forging bonds with people making a difference by providing high quality information on the blog and cultivating online communities. Offline we regularly participate in local events and champion our free or low cost volunteer opportunities. The information provided is free, but your donations cover costs and keep the website free of advertisements.
